Round the World: Oktober 2005

Lima again...

so its me again.. yesterday i couldn t write anymore cause i felt sick and had to get the bus... but today it looks like i have some time... i arrived in lima at 6 am and my bus to cusco leaves at 4 pm... bad luck.. i wanted to go to nasca to see the nasca lines but the 50US$ flight is too expensive now and to get to the viewing tower seems to be complicated, too.
anyway so i ll spend some time in lima city again and probably go to my favorite 60EURO Cent cinema... still not my best day... and in cusco i have to be fit again, we (shawn and marc from columbia and me) want to walk to agua calientes the village next to machu pichu... the hole place is a tourist trap. they take 100US$ for one day machu pichu by train or 300$ for the inca trail, a four day walk... im trying to get that cheaper :) like always.. we ll see...

in the end im happy i came through.. i got sick..i dont know altitude thickness or just a cold plus the antirabies(tollwut) shots.. anyway after the first climb to the basecamp i had such a pain in my head... luckily we had a lot of drugs a bit of everything and a bit of fighting helped me up to the top... but i still feel really bad... and now 32h bus to cusco ... :(

but we made it!! 5600m !!

next mornig we started at 2.00h!!! 20 minutes to the ice and then into the sunrise

the four of us plus one guide who carried the tents and therefore had at least 30kg.. so thats the camp... cooking and sleeping

and it got better ... first day up to the base camp on 4800m with 15-20kg backpacks juchuuu @ben: der rucksack ist echt gut... aber dieses wochenende hab ich ihn das erste mal richtig benutzt, mit icehacke und iso matte und all dem zeug.. und deine kleine ueberlebenstasche war natuerlich auch am start..

and then i wanted to go ice climbing but spontaneously we decided to go on a 2 day glacier hike, dennis, john canada, stephanie france... and it started good lot of wholes in the street..so we had to get of the cab about five times...

and then we just went down cross country towards the city.. fields, rocks, little villages..

this time really good cannondale bikes.. i dont really care but the other two were really into it..good fun though

next day another down hill day.. first trip 2h with the cab (we missed the bus, so we had to pay 5US$ instead of 3$ each :) ) up the mountains.. dennis croatia and matt canada and three bikes in the back, i was in the front with the driver and his nephew

unfortunately i didn t reached my target: laguna churrup because of a hail storm

with two australians on a one day treck.. i still have to go everyday to the hospital to get my shots so no 4 day trip..

huaraz and la cordillera blanca

from mancora 20h bus to huaraz the trecking capitel. afterwards i found out, that there are two ways from the coast (chimbote) into the mountains.. we took the worse one... last 8h up this dirt track, with about 50 people in a 25 people bus,... thats what u get here when u save on busses.. but good views :)

in mancora they got the kites out but 40US$ for an hour too much

Huaraz

i am in huaraz, the trecking capital of peru.. 3000m above the ocean... did some wasome day trek and today i ve been downhill moutainbiking, but like crazy crazy... with two guys from croatia and canada, which were really good... and even more insane than i am...

fotos coming... this pc is shit... have to go or i ll destroy it. no seriously.. i got to go to bed.. tomorrow mornign i ll get my last injection and then i can finally stay up in the mountains and i spontaneously decided to do a 2 day glacier hike...

so i ll be in the ice the next two days..

one wrong turn end we got lost.. at gaylans little paradise.. he lives here in the mountains teaches english 10min down the hill...

i hate computers... as some of u will have noticed that some weired comments have been placed on my blog..that must have run over so that it got more difficult now to post new posts... and somehow right now theres no solucion to post pictures..

Northern Beaches of Peru

i know.. one can see that im travelling on my own.. definately spend too much time in the internet.. but i cant really say im doing too few thing im actually really happy and im makin progress down south...right now im in mancora one of perus nothren beaches....

apart from the dogbite, which is really not a big thing, im doin fine.. unfortunately i need 7 injections to make sure that i dont get mad.. or as some peop`le might say even worse...:) anyway.. no alcohol, no cigaretts, no sun, no fat, no chocolate.. i dont know what to do???

so here im in an internet cafe.. telling u about my freakin last 24h .. enjoy...

i rent a bike to do some downhill... but first u got to get up the hill.. i was doing fine driving-walking until i got bitten by a dog..

i do love banos, i just cant afford to stay again for 3 weeks, spent that time in columbia.. so lets enjoy the last day of ecudaor?

here is some kind of local party...@philipp looks like they stole valencia tradition..yesterday there was a little firework but more important.. about every ten min or so it makes boom, this senseless bombs that just make noise... made me think about our time at las fallas

i just had one day in banos, and not in my best condition, but i already like it.. its very small, a little village surrounded by mountains, a 5000m volcano in the backround and full of activities.. and i got a 3people room with private bath, hot shower and cable tv, for 5$ per night on my own.. :)

apart from the church, i basically spent two days in the autobus.. but therefore i am in ba�os right now, which is quite in the middle of ecuador. unfortunately im ill.. think i ate bad eggs.. my stomach feels like shit and i got fever.. fortunately ba�os (baths) got it name from healing thermal pools, which i visited.. beatiful setting, waterfall in the backround and pools up to 54 degree hot!!

in las lajas, just a couple of km from the border somebody saw the face of virgen maria in the rocks.. so they built this incredible church. it stands on a bridge over a beatiful canyon, and the backside actually are the rocks!!

and thats it .. medellin over... me waiting for the bus south to ecuador... and btw, the hair is gone... (still too heavy)

its just beautiful, but the weather conditions weren t that good, and im too heavy :( so the lighter ones could fly, i couldn t... bad luck.. @dad: looks like we got to do the cours in the alps :)
