Cali

Cali is one of columbias biggest cities.. 2mio inhabitants.. but there were different reasons to come here...
i have to say.. my journey has now begun - for real! travelling south america, yesterday was an insane day... trole(tram) autobus, market, autobus taxi to the border, crossing, taxi to the next city, overnight bus to cali.. insane.. u have to bargain everything.. we got hte autobus from 25000 down to 15000.. because we were four..
dont know what to tell, fotos are comeing.. been travelling with a brasilian girl so far.. but i ll probably go back to ecuador soon..
but to be true.. i just dont know.. we ll see what happens!!

finally got the promised surprise from the skiing trip. thats lawrence from the philipenean snowboard team... i used him as my cameraman (thx lawrence!!)... first shoot didnt work out, so here is only the sound: audio1 ... i did it again.. sound first..audio2 and something to smile for the world... video :) and especially for simone.. (the video is 15mb so its probably better to first save it on the hard disc and the play it..)

quite a lot of police here around...

peruano

plazo mayor

Lima

so finally and sadly i had to leave santiago... and flew to lima in peru, i ll have a 3 day stop here on my way to quito in ecuador.. so friday i ll be in ecuador por fin!
i m not sure if lima was the best idea.. seems like a waste of time ..although i simply need some time to recover...
still lima impressions... grey, smoggy, dangerous.. overcrowded, 500 taxi driver tryin to grab u.. finally jumped in a cab, with no taxi sign.. and no idea if i d ever go to my hostal...
but on the other side.. u can get the price down from 10 euro to 3...hostal cost about 3 per night..and cinema less than 1euro.. (but watching a movie at philipps place is more quality)

its always the same in the end... i had a good time.. cant expect to have that all the time.. so im getting down again now..starting to look for the little things again..yesterday i spent about 4h sitting in the city., plazo mayor.. watching people.. in the end im on the other side of the world..that is amzing enough!

but yeah... party fotos are boring if one hasn t been there... still i had the best time! have to say thx toi the girls again and hereby give a hug to all of u!! 1....

3&4

2..

i am wondering who that guy in the background is?..

cata loves chocolate..

astrid, the one, when i met her the first night out, the party (of the whole week!!) began... :)

and sofi...

and finally the four best chilenian girls i could have met! dont know how i deserved that weekend... astrid, cata, guada...

here is a quiz... what is that?

a little bit of all that good things in chile?! restaurante a la playa.. cerveca empanada cata... :)

but to be fair, the sunday i got another private tour around.. watching polo! and almost got on a horse :( but at least now i got the promise that i ll get on one when i come back..

the weather wasn t that good, so exept from little walks at the beach, there where basically two things to do, recover from the last night(especially astrid) and get ready for the next one..

for the night everybody ends up in la fonda thats pretty much heimatfest, carneval etc... atmosphere, meaning easy stupied traditional music a lot of beer and everybody is in a good mood...

thats the view from our little house

so the weekend of the 18.09.05... its all about having agood time... and to be true it reminded me a lot of that one boarderweek week with hendrik, yason and sebi... little casa..lot of party...

santiago de chile (cont)

ok again...

so first night going out, than the beachday, monday organisation of flight to quito etc... tuesday snowboarding in valle nevado... i have to admit... i didn t really know that there are skiresorts in chile.. but just to give some hint on the quality.. we happened to have the FIS snowboard worldcup here exactly in this week.. so even though its just a small place (compared to e.g. alpe d´huez) every second was a pro snowboarder,,,
than two more santiago days, pro columbian museum, salvador dali exhibition, climb up a hill.. etc. and another time working in the hostal.. but this time only sweeping (first time i had to clean the toilets, muahhh).
but the main reason to stay longer was sunday 18.09.05 chilenian independance day. already angelo the chilenian guy in oamaru new zealand told me, that day is a must... plus i was invited to spend the weekend in a little house at the beach... with chilenians! of course i had to go! :)

and another sunset from santiagos hill of the virgin statue!! hard climb but obviously worth it..

3,5 m now.. so high even the cables of the lift werte lower!!

valle nevado

valparaiso and vina del mar

chile impression

smog city

santiago de chile

the first night turned out to be very important.. the hostal is good, people are really friendly.. can work sometimes..to stay for free..
but even more importatn.. met some chilenian locals ... so i got a private trip to santiagos beach front, two little settlements (like el arenal for palma) but a wnderful day wth a superb meal in a fishrestaurant basicly above the sea (thx astrid.. :) and a an amazing night drive through valparaisos tiny little streets (maze)---

well got to make that short here.. times running out.. one day skiing.. little surprise coming up tomorrow..
a shit... cu tomorrow..

santiago, not beatiful but still impressive with the snowcovered mountains always in the background..

so yeah.. as i said before.. the next days are gonna be chilled... relaxing for south america!

after all the walking, i just relaxed the next day, read my book and waited for brian and jessie to come back... we had some last beers and then made our way back to auckland!

that path was a lot more what i expected.. a summit walk with view over the islands, almost all the time. stunning!

...

jup and some costal views..

but i found a better place to hike around... after some rain i saw the closet rainbow ever, it was maybe 50m from me!!!

but the weather got worse, so after 2h climbing up the hills with the big backpack and only getting two viewpoints over the bay of islands...(the rest of the walk was in the forrest) i decided to go back.. it was too boring in the end..

next day, brian hired a kayak for two days and went on a overnight kayak trip with another amrican girl we found in a backpacker.. i would have liked to go with him but it was simply too expensive.. so i decided to go for a little walk. 15h retourn overnight stay at a hutt, basically all along the hills in my backround to cape brett...

but we made it and had a beautiful night free camping between pigs and rooster...

we underestimated the walk a bit, so we ended up in sunset, then dusk, then night! we actually went back along the beach under the stars...buhu..and got then cought by high tide, which made us climb over rocks again...

and had to go all teh way back again...

but finally we reached the cape

little river crossing, so boots off again :)

its been a long walk (6h retourn in the end) but also one of my favorite things in nz..because it was changing all the time...

after a bit of driving, we arrived at cape regina, where the road ends. but it is neither the most northern nor the most western point of newzealand :( so we went for a walk to cape maria van diemen, the most western point of nz just left to brians left knee!!

next day, sunday, we drove up to the very north, little stop at the ancient kauri kingdom, a shop that creates furniture out of 40000 year old kauri wood! the piece in the pic is the biggest kauri ever found (in a swamp) so they decided to leave it in one peace and carve a staircase into it!! and build the shop around that enourmes peace of wood!

pretty amazing caves for beeing free, at least 500m long, we spent about one hour climbing in there, barefoot, cause the water on the ground was too deep...

abbey caves are the only free glowworm caves i could find in the lonely planet. but since it is dark in caves anyway we kept them for the night...

it was definitely worth waiting :)

took us a bit, but we made it, found a wind protected spot and waited for sunset...

after the beach we decided to do some work out and climb the rock in the backround..2h retourn.. steep climb sounded good :)

first stop whangarei heads, ocean beach, brian just arrived in auckland and wanted to spend some of these awsome day at the beach...thats not brian btw :)

Auckland

hey ho...

2nd time in auckland, dropped the girls off on friday and finally got my bank cards back!! all good again.. thx mum for sending..everything here!
yep i can stay in auckland at joys auntie's place, so i got my own room and a bed for free! very chilled...
but im not here to chill, so i just put up some notes again, filled up the car with some more free food and found brian, from the states, to travel up north!
we had some asome 4 days... just have a look at the pics..
jupp and now im back in auckland.. sorting out some stuff and just relax for 2 or 3 days! after living in a car for 3,5 weeks i think thats a good idea!

thats for now.. be back with u soon
